Knee and Ankle Exercises Every Runner Should Be Doing

Hi, it's Rich, Head Coach at Kinetic Fitness.

As I'm training for the Berlin Marathon, one thing that's always a priority, alongside the running itself, is making sure my knees and ankles are strong enough to handle the demands of training.

It's easy to focus on getting the miles in, but building strength, improving stability, and looking after the joints that absorb thousands of impacts every run is just as important. A little time spent on the right exercises can help you stay consistent with your training, reduce your risk of injury, and keep you running comfortably for longer.

In the video below, I'm sharing some of the knee and ankle exercises that form part of my own marathon preparation. They're exercises I regularly include to support my training, and they're suitable for runners looking to build stronger, more resilient legs- whether you're preparing for your first race or chasing a new PB.

Give the video a watch, have a go at adding a few of these exercises into your training routine, and let me know how you get on. Consistency is key, and a small investment in strength work can make a big difference over the long term.

Happy running!
